In my 30s and 40s, I considered myself reasonably fit and healthy despite years of on-and-off exercise that left me with an average physique. However, in my 50s, after adopting and embracing specific nutrition, exercise and lifestyle habits, I redefined my health and physique entirely.

I started training with Marco in August 2015. I had just started to recover from a serious illness and was in bad shape physically being some 117 kgs and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
I had reservations about ever being really fit again and had given up many of the things I had enjoyed doing earlier in my life e.g. snow skiing, bush walking and swimming. I had hoped to lose some weight and get back to a more active life.
Marco set a training routine and nutrition plan for me and offered advice on my approach to training. He dismissed my reservations about my ability to get fit and it became clear that things could change with early success in my weight and my enjoyment of his approach to training.
I now weigh in at 92 kgs a loss of 25 kgs over the three years. My type two diabetes has disappeared. I have returned to skiing, bushwalking and swimming and feel very much more able to cope with the physical demands of day to day life.

I started training with Marco in August 2022. When I started, my primary goal was to lose body fat and gain strength. Although before I started training with Marco, I was regularly hitting the gym but I was not clear on which exercises I needed to do and as a result, I was not able to lose weight.
In my first meeting, Marco asked me several questions about my daily routine, nutrition and expectations from the training, upon which Marco provided me with a personalised nutrition plan along with a workout plan. He is unlike other coaches who'll forget you after providing a diet plan and workout plan. Instead, he'll be in constant touch with you to track your progress and answer your questions. He also used to come to my gym and physically demonstrate the exercise forms/postures/techniques to me.
Within 4 months of training, although my target body weight was 72 kgs, I shed nearly 15 kgs of body weight, bringing my weight from 84.6 kgs to 69.5 kgs and my body fat percentage reduced from 30% to 21%.

How do I get started with nutrition and fitness coaching?

I understand that some people thrive on face-to-face interaction and the physical presence of a coach. You may feel that online training lacks the personal touch and motivation that in-person sessions provide, but I bridge that gap with personalised feedback and constant messaging support to keep you motivated and connected.
How can I get in touch with you (your coach)?
It's simple! You can text, call, email, or use our online coaching platform. I usually reply to texts within the hour, so you won't have to wait long. Your messages are important to me and will always get a response. And if you live locally, we can even meet up for a coffee and chat 😃.
How often can I connect with you?
As often as you need my help, assistance and support. I'm just a text away!
Accountability
How will you help keep me accountable and on track with my nutrition and exercise routine?
For some, the physical presence of a coach in the same space holds them more accountable. They may find it easier to skip workouts or not put in full effort when training online.
I can help set regular, consistent workout times and use reminders. I will track your progress via the online platform, text messaging and daily check-ins to keep you motivated and accountable with your nutrition and exercise.
Exercise form and technique
How will you be able to check my exercise form and technique?
Ensuring proper form and technique can be challenging through a screen. Some people might feel more secure having a coach physically adjust their posture or demonstrate exercises in person.
If you live locally, we could schedule an in-person exercise session at your home, local park or a gym.
The other way is to simply record a video demonstrating each exercise for me to look at. I will then provide a detailed video demonstration and feedback with personalised corrections and modifications for your fitness level.
Equipment and environment
Do I need any fitness equipment?
Nope, you don't need any equipment to get started, especially if you're exercising at home.
As you get better and want to challenge yourself more, you might want to buy some basic equipment like adjustable dumbbells and resistance bands.
I know not everyone has the perfect workout space or the right equipment at home.
Don't worry!
I'll create a workout plan that fits the space and equipment (if any) you have.
Do I need a gym membership?
Not really, but it depends on your goals.
As you get stronger and more confident, you might want to join a gym to use their extra equipment. Some people find it easier to stay motivated in a gym. The energy of a gym and seeing others work out can be a significant motivator that is hard to replicate at home.
Technical issues
What if I have any technical issues using the online platform or client app?
Not everyone is comfortable with technology (including me, lol). Issues like poor internet connection, unfamiliarity with video conferencing tools, or problems with audio/video quality can create frustration.
Fortunately, the coaching platform and app I use are user-friendly, and because of my constant support, I will help you troubleshoot any issues you might have with the platform or app.
Cost perception of online coaching
I understand that some people wonder if online coaching is worth the money compared to in-person sessions.
With my coaching, you get so much more!
While the cost of an in-person session would have given you one hour of my time, my coaching offers you support and guidance for an entire week—for the same price!
I spend a lot of time working behind the scenes and staying in touch with my clients, making sure you get the best experience and results.
So basically, instead of just one hour, you have me by your side all week long!
How often will I be billed?
You'll be billed automatically every month until you choose to cancel. If you'd rather be billed every week, just let me know, and I can arrange that for you. I handle all card payments through Square.
